At the age of 15 was when I had my first abortion. Society has everyone think that we have no power over our own bodies and choices, and at 15 legally we almost have none.

I got pregnant in 1997 with a guy who seduced me and manipulated me into a relationship with him. We used condoms every time, so I was in shock when I found out I got pregnant.

The first 16 years of my life were something out of a Lifetime Channel movie; alcoholic, misogynist, abusive stepfather; enabling and psychologically damaged mother; and a spoiled, bratty, but obedient younger sister.

I was 18 years old, and had only been in the military for less than a year. I had lost my virginity less than a year before all this. A few months before finding out I was pregnant (in spite of using condoms) I found out my mom had non-hodgkins lymphoma.

It was my second year in college when I found out I was pregnant. I did not plan to have kids at all, much less at that time in my life.

I was 21 when a routine physical showed I was pregnant. I was on the Depo shot and in a committed relationship. I was also going to college full time and working full time.
