In response to the many executive orders issued by President Donald Trump on his first day in office, Advocates for Youth President Debra Hauser shared this statement.

“We condemn Trump’s attacks on immigrants, transgender people, abortion access, and medicine. Advocates for Youth and the young people with which we partner do not support this hate-based, extremist, dangerous agenda.

The Trump administration will not – and cannot – erase the lived realities of young  people in this country. Existing laws and the Constitution protect people from much of what Trump is attempting to enact. Trump’s executive orders don’t automatically take effect; many run counter to existing law and will be challenged by lawsuits.

We are committed to working alongside young people  and fighting for their right to medical care, to safety, and to living as who they are.”
