Over 100,000 people signed a petition asking for a ballot initiative protecting abortion access in Arkansas – well over the required number of signatures. Yet this week, the Arkansas Supreme Court chose to follow the state’s decision to disregard those signatures on a technicality. Young people understand that when it comes to abortion access, “leaving it to the states” too often means extremist politicians choose to deny the people their voice and their rights. Young people are working to ensure everyone has access to abortion, regardless of where they live. Legislators who enact abortion bans are out of step with young people and with the majority of Americans.
