Advocates for Youth Condemns ICE Raids
This weekend, following direction from the Trump administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested over 2,000 people.
In response, Deb Hauser, President of national youth activism nonprofit Advocates for Youth, issued the following statement:
“Over the past few days, ICE and Border Patrol deepened their reign of terror over immigrants and refugees living in or trying to enter our country. The Trump administration’s high-profile and highly-publicized arrest and deportation spree fuels rampant, dangerous anti-immigrant sentiment and exacerbates racist propaganda from the highest levels of government.
All young people deserve to feel safe in public spaces, and to access the health care, education, and resources they need without threat of deportation. It is unacceptable that the government would perpetuate this campaign of intimidation that will only serve to negatively affect the health and well-being of our communities.”
