An HIV & STI Prevention Program by and for Black & Latino Young Men who Have Sex with Men (YMSM)
Get Your Life is a seven-session group-based HIV prevention facilitation guide designed for Black and Latino young men who have sex (YMSM) with men ages 14-19 years old.
Following a pilot program that included three large school districts and over 200 Black and Latino youth, Get Your Life is an engaging, inclusive, and culturally-responsive HIV/STI prevention program made by and for Black and Latino Young men.
Get Your Life, named by youth participants after 200 Black & Latino YMSM participated in pilot testing, was designed to inspire conversations about HIV, STIs, relationships and identities through a culturally responsive and sex positive lens.
Get Your Life addresses topics specific to Black & Latino YMSM including cultural and social norms, relationship dynamics, impact of racism and homophobia, and HIV & STI risk.
The seven sessions aim to foster positive self-image, educate participants about their HIV/STI risks, and promote partner communication skills. Through the expert-backed guide, the goal is to increase participants’ confidence as well as knowledge about HIV prevention, treatment and PrEP.
