Attacks on Title X Hurt Young People

The Trump Administration has withdrawn funding from 16 Title X providers, threatening millions of people’s access to life-saving healthcare including cancer screenings, STI tests, contraception, and abortion.

In response, Diana Thu-Thao Rhodes, Vice President of Policy, Partnerships and Organizing at the national youth reproductive and sexual health organization Advocates for Youth, issued the following statement:

“With this attack on Title X programs, the Trump Administration puts countless lives at risk and exacerbates existing and inequitable barriers to reproductive health care.

Title X providers, including many Planned Parenthood affiliates, play a critical role in ensuring young people and low-income communities have access to medical treatment and preventive care. Eliminating these services is cruel, dangerous, and will disproportionately impact young people of color who already face higher barriers to health care.

Congress must step up to protect Title X funding and expand reproductive health care access for young people.”
