Advocates for Youth welcomes the historic confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson is exceptionally qualified and we look forward to her service on the Court. We  are thrilled to see the first Black woman appointed to the Supreme Court – an important milestone long overdue.  

“Young people need and deserve a Supreme Court that will protect their rights, their safety, and their ability to thrive. That includes preserving and expanding access to abortion, contraception, and sex education – as well as ensuring equality and protection for LGBTQ youth.  And, representation for Black women on the highest court in the land is now and has long been imperative. 

The disparaging attacks on Judge Brown, especially during her confirmation hearings, are out of touch, inappropriate, and frankly embarrassing. Young people demand progress, and won’t stand for racism, misogyny, and transphobia from our government,” said Debra Hauser, President, Advocates for Youth.
