Advocates for Youth is thrilled with the historic nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S, Supreme Court. She is eminently qualified, with distinguished experience as a federal judge, and will serve as a role model for young Black women everywhere.
As the Court continues to address the critical issues impacting young people such as abortion justice, affirmative action, and equitable treatment for transgender youth, the President must not waste any time in nominating a Black woman to the Supreme Court.
Today, the FDA lifted some of the restrictions on medication abortion, and we welcome this first step. Medication abortion has a decades-long track record of safety and efficacy. Young people need and have the right to this option.
All young people deserve to see themselves reflected in school curricula. Research shows that a person’s identities are strongly linked to their health outcomes. We can’t, and shouldn’t, ignore the unique challenges youth of color are facing in their lives.
