The consequences of this law will be severe. We are concerned for the young people who partner with us to end HIV criminalization in Pennsylvania - many of whom exist at the intersections of being Black, Indigneous and People of Color, queer and trans people, and people living with HIV.
We are mourning the recent murders of two members of the LGBTQI+ community at the LGBT+ bar, Tepláreň, in Slovakia’s capital of Bratislava. Advocates for Youth stands in solidarity with the brave young people fighting for LGBTQI+ rights and acceptance while protesting against these violent hate crimes.
Advocates for Youth and the Free the Pill Youth Council are outraged by the FDA’s decision to delay the meeting of its advisory committee to discuss approving an over-the-counter birth control pill.
“It’s hard to understand why the FDA would make this decision when birth control is such an urgent health care need,” said Debra Hauser, President, Advocates for Youth. “It’s so frustrating for the young people working hard to ensure everyone has access to contraception when they need it and without barriers.”
In light of the recent murder of 22-year old Jîna (Mahsa) Amini and countless demonstrators by law enforcement, Advocates for Youth stands in solidarity with the young people of Iran who have been leading a movement for liberation for decades across the country.
We send strength to Puerto Ricans and Dominicans who are coping with the losses and facing the prospect of rebuilding. We urge the federal government to provide urgently needed aid and resources as quickly as possible.
The busing of migrants,including children and young people, across the country by Govs. Greg Abott (Texas), Doug Doucy (Arizona), and Ron DeSantis (Florida), as a political stunt, must stop. Using human beings as political props, belittling and ignoring the experiences and needs of these migrants, and treating migrants as something to be disposed of: these are reprehensible acts.
