I was 18. I was desperate for my high school boyfriend to still want to date me, so I went on the pill. We immediately stopped using condom and didn’t wait the recommended 2 weeks after starting the pill to have unprotected sex. I got pregnant. My mother made all of my appointments for me, while my boyfriend left me high and dry. He made no effort to be supportive or come to my appointments, but the people at the clinic were warm, supportive, and caring during such an incredible time of need. I’m so grateful for them and for my supportive mother, who taught me what it means to support women. I will fight for abortion rights till the day I die.
