It was the summer after I graduated from my college and I was on my way to law school. I was 20. I was being sexually irresponsible believing that “pulling out” would protect me. My cycle was irregular and I often missed my period all summer, so not menstruating did not mean anything to me.

In the fall, I found myself starting law school when I discovered that I was pregnant, about 11 weeks. I knew I was not going to have a child, so I went to the school health clinic, who directed me to a planned parenthood clinic who helped me through the procedure. It was only slightly more painful than bad menstrual cramps. I do not regret it not for a moment. I am happy that I was able to have a safe procedure.
